- This included creating an augmented reality version of an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device for individuals who are non-verbal, where the initial user trial of 17 people indicated the untapped potential for using XR for assistive technologies
- This led to further exploratory work, such as the final project I helped led that explored the use of large language models and computer vision to create a custom sensory room with an XR environment
- Results from a 10-person user trial demonstrated the effectiveness of the project for creating sensory rooms for individuals who may not have easy access to such spaces
- These projects utilized Meta’s SDK for their Quest headsets, Unity’s 3D development environment, and Meta’s llama3.1 large language model for voice interactions, and TensorFlow for object detection
